Hessenland Inn & Schatz Winery

Steeped in history, Hessenland Inn marries two intriguing stories which begins with an original farm house lovingly restored to today’s rustic and elegant Coach House. It is truly one of the greatest banquet room treasures in Ontario’s West Coast.

It’s second lineage follows the journey by its owners from Germany who sought to open a business that combined their passion for hospitality with their love of horse breeding.

While no longer in the business of breeding Hanovarian Horses, Hessenland’s 30 acres of pastures and fields now boasts expansive gardens, dining rooms, accommodations, five acres of vineyard and the unique Coach House reception hall.

Today the Inn is run by the second generation of the Ihrig family who maintain the German traditions with gourmet schnitzel, spätzles, specialty grills, all set in a pastoral vineyard.

Treat yourself to a taste of Germany overlooking Lake Huron’s shores near St. Joseph’s Ontario. It is elegance paired with exquisite taste and tradition!
