Huron County’s newest food festival, Maple Mania celebrates local producers and local foods March 18 and 19th, 2023.  The following producers are participating by leading presentations about maple syrup production, hosting events and special guests. We ask that all guests register, even for free events, so we can work to accommodate everyone.

1:30 – 3pm.   This event has been cancelled due to dangerously high winds projected by weather forecasters.

Education Coordinator, Denise Iszczuk, of Ausable Bayfield Conservation will be onsite from 1:30-3pm to take visitors on a family friendly walk through the sugar bush to look for and learn about forest animals, maple trees and the importance of trees for the healthy watershed.   Special thanks to the 12-member municipalities of the Ausable and Bayfield watersheds, and the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation for subsidizing Conservation Education programs.

During the Festival weekend Freedom’s volunteers will be demonstrating “sugaring off” the old fashioned way on an open fire and kettle.

Freedom Syrup, established in 2010, recognizes the 158 troops that perished in the Afghan War and have raised over $200,000 in support of the families of Fallen Soldiers via the Support Our Troops Fund..

 

Freedom Syrup will be available for sale (CASH ONLY) as will honey from local apiarists Bee Kind Honey and fresh baked buttermilk biscuits (smothered with Freedom Syrup) from the White Squirrel Bakery of Exeter.
